Lavender, lilac, jasmine are some of the bedroom scents that can bring serenity. This article explores the best bedroom scents for peaceful rest and relaxation.

When seeking a good night's sleep the natural way, scent is one of the most powerful and peaceful weapons in the arsenal. Soothing bedroom scents that provide an emotional, spiritual and aroma-therapeutic way to ease into a peaceful sleep are one favorite way to ensure a restful night's sleep.

Lavender Fragrance for Calming

The soothing scents of lavender have long been known to bring about calm and tranquil peace, so using lavender scents and essential oils during the bedtime routine and around the bed can create a serene bedroom indeed. From lavender sachets to lavender potpourri and even spritzers for the room and the pillows, lavender is a must-have bedroom scent for those who enjoy this calming fragrance.

There are other often overlooked fragrances that work just as well as lavender, and some that even smell fantastic when combined with lavender, that can help create a peaceful and serene bedroom scent, perfect for resting, relaxing and dreaming. There are, however, several other calming and soothing bedroom scents.

Ylang Ylang for Peaceful Scents

Whether it’s the ylang ylang essential oil with a few drops added to a scent pot or diffuser, or an infused sprayer to spritz on the bedding, ylang ylang offers a light floral scent that is calming and relaxing, and it mixes beautifully with an old standby: lavender. A room diffuser can waft the pleasant aroma through the room, while the light sound of white noise from the fan diffuser helps you drift into a serene sleep.

Jasmine for Delicate Aroma

Jasmine and ylang ylang mix beautifully if looking for complementary calming and serene bedroom scents. Another floral scent, jasmine is light and intoxicating, and elicits peaceful dreams and tranquility. Before going to bed, bathe in a warm bath with a few drops of jasmine and ylang ylang, and the sweet aroma will linger with you while you fall into a restful sleep.

Lilac and Rose Combine Well

The faintest touch of rose petal scented air can help with drifting off into a peaceful rest, but many find the scent of rose rather overpowering. Because of this, mixing the lightest touch of rose water with a lilac infusion and the result is a light bedroom scent that can bring about pleasurable memories and peaceful slumber. Used in potpourri, candles, or reed diffusers, lilac and rose work in perfect concert with each other for creating serenity in the bedroom.

Other Serene Bedroom Scents

Citrus scents are energizing, spicy scents are warm and comforting, and these, while wonderful for other purposes, should be avoided in the bedroom when seeking calming and relaxing scents. If the other bedroom scents mentioned here are not to your liking, any of the lightly fragranced floral scents will help soothe the nerves, soften the rough edges and bring about peaceful sleep.

Other calming and peaceful scents include: vanilla, patchouli, sandlewood, and if you're feeling a little under the weather, nothing can soothe and help you heal better than the scent of eucalyptus. These scents can all be diffused with a natural air diffuser, an oil reed diffuser, or by spraying the prepared scent around the room or on the bedding. Incense can waft the scent lightly through the room, and scented candles are a safe way to gently warm scents and infuse the room with serenity.

Experiment with these and other bedroom scents until you find the perfect combination that leaves your bedroom smelling fragrant and serene, and then sleep tight with peaceful dreams.
